Cold Exposure

Cryotherapy

A fast, powerful reset for the body and mind.

Cryotherapy at Release uses brief cold exposure to support recovery, energy, resilience, and nervous system regulation as part of a broader recovery experience.

Cold exposure is not the goal.

The nervous system response is. Release makes cryotherapy feel intentional, guided, and accessible.

Why People Use Cryotherapy

The body responds powerfully to controlled cold exposure.

Brief cold exposure creates a rapid stress-and-recovery response that many people explore as part of routines focused on recovery, energy, resilience, mental clarity, inflammation support, and nervous system adaptation.

At Release, Cryotherapy is designed to feel intentional, safe, and restorative — not intimidating.

What to know about Cryotherapy.

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a cold-exposure therapy that uses very low temperatures for a short period of time to support recovery, resilience, and overall wellness.

During a whole-body cryotherapy session, you step into a cryotherapy chamber where your body is exposed to extremely cold air for a brief, controlled session. The goal is to create a short cold stimulus that may help activate the body’s natural recovery response, support circulation, and help you feel refreshed, energized, and restored.

Cryotherapy works by exposing the body to intense cold for a short period of time. This cold exposure causes the body to respond quickly by shifting blood flow, activating temperature receptors in the skin, and stimulating nervous system and recovery-related responses.

Many people use cryotherapy to support post-workout recovery, muscle soreness, joint comfort, inflammation support, mood, and energy. Research on whole-body cryotherapy is still evolving, so we describe it as a supportive wellness and recovery tool rather than a treatment or cure for any medical condition.

Many guests use cryotherapy as part of a routine focused on recovery, performance, stress resilience, and overall wellness.

Common wellness goals include:

  • Supporting muscle recovery after workouts
  • Helping with post-exercise soreness
  • Supporting joint comfort
  • Feeling refreshed, energized, and mentally reset
  • Supporting inflammation balance
  • Building a consistent recovery routine

Individual experiences vary. Cryotherapy works best when paired with the fundamentals: sleep, hydration, nutrition, movement, and stress regulation.

Most guests describe cryotherapy as cold, quick, and invigorating. The cold is intense, but the session is brief and our team guides you through the entire experience.

You may feel a rush of energy during or after the session, and some guests feel refreshed, lighter, or more awake afterward. Because everyone responds differently to cold exposure, your first session is about getting comfortable, learning what to expect, and easing into the experience safely.

Whole-body cryotherapy sessions are intentionally short. A typical session lasts approximately 2–3 minutes, depending on the guest, the device, and the session protocol.

Your first session may be slightly shorter so your body can adjust to the experience. Our team will explain the process, monitor your comfort, and guide you before, during, and after the session.

For whole-body cryotherapy, you will wear minimal dry clothing and protective gear. Protective items may include gloves, socks, slippers or boots, and other coverage depending on the chamber and session setup.

Your skin and clothing must be completely dry before entering the chamber. You should remove jewelry, watches, and any metal items before the session. Our team will provide clear instructions so you know exactly what to wear and how to prepare.

Cryotherapy is best viewed as a consistency-based recovery tool, not a one-time quick fix. Many guests start with 1–3 sessions per week depending on their goals, comfort level, and overall recovery routine.
Athletes or highly active guests may use it more frequently during periods of intense training, while others may use it weekly for general recovery and stress reset. The right rhythm depends on your body, your goals, and how you feel after each session.

Cryotherapy should feel cold, but it should not feel painful. Most guests describe the session as intense but manageable because it only lasts a few minutes.
You may feel tingling, tightness, or a strong cold sensation during the session. If you feel pain, numbness, dizziness, shortness of breath, or discomfort that feels unusual, you should tell our team immediately. You are always in control of the experience and can stop the session at any time.

Cryotherapy is generally well tolerated when performed properly, with appropriate screening, dry skin, protective gear, and trained staff supervision.
Because whole-body cryotherapy involves extreme cold, safety matters. Potential risks may include skin irritation, frostbite, burns, dizziness, blood pressure changes, or cold-related discomfort if the service is not used appropriately. Our team follows safety protocols, screens guests before use, provides protective gear, and monitors the session to help create a safe and comfortable experience.

You should check with your physician before using cryotherapy if you are pregnant, have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, circulation problems, a history of stroke, severe Raynaud’s syndrome, cold allergy, nerve damage, seizure disorder, severe anemia, active infection, fever, open wounds, or any serious or unstable medical condition.
If you are under active medical care, taking medications that affect circulation or sensation, or have a complex health history, we recommend medical clearance before starting.

Release offers cryotherapy as a wellness and recovery service. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.

Whole-body cryotherapy is different from medical procedures such as cryosurgery, which may be used by physicians to freeze and remove abnormal tissue. Cryotherapy in a wellness setting should be viewed as a supportive recovery experience, not a substitute for medical care.

Important Note

Cryotherapy is a wellness and recovery service. Individual experiences vary. Guests with medical conditions, pregnancy, circulation concerns, heart conditions, nerve issues, cold sensitivity, or complex health histories should consult their healthcare provider before use.

Consistency Changes How You Feel

Cold exposure works best as part of a rhythm.

One cryotherapy session may feel energizing. But the deeper value comes from making recovery, resilience, and nervous system regulation part of your lifestyle.
